About Olho no Poder
Olho no Poder (“Eye on Power”) shows, with official data, who was elected, how those in power vote and spend, and how the economy is doing. It started with the count of the 2026 elections and continues after them, following Congress and the government.
The site is made in Brazil, in Portuguese; this version translates the interface and the explanations. Names of institutions, parties and official documents, and quotes from the government plans, stay in the original.
Independence
It is an independent site, with no ties to parties, candidates, governments or public bodies. It receives no campaign money and runs no ads. The texts explain the numbers; they do not tell you whom to vote for.
Where the data comes from
- TSE · Results: live 2026 count, by state and by city.
- TSE · Open data: 2022 results, campaign finance reports and 2026 government plans.
- Federal Senate · Open data: floor votes, senators and parliamentary allowance spending (CEAPS).
- Chamber of Deputies · Open data: floor votes, deputies and parliamentary allowance spending (CEAP).
- Central Bank · SGS: inflation, interest rates, the dollar, unemployment and other indicators.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata: STF composition, who appointed each justice and birth dates (the STF website blocks automated queries).
- IBGE: city populations and municipal boundaries (via geodata-br).
The data is read directly from these sources, without manual editing. If anything differs, the official data from the body that published it always prevails.
How the numbers are calculated
- “Elected” and “goes to the 2nd round”. We use what the TSE reports. Before that, we only mark a race as decided when it is mathematically impossible to change: we assume every voter at the ballot boxes not yet counted votes for the leader's opponent. That is why the site sometimes takes longer than the press to call a result.
- Comparison with 2022. Compares the same office in the same place. When the party changed its candidate, the comparison is by party.
- Left, center and right. A simplified classification of the parties, only to summarize the composition of Congress. Parties and members do not always vote accordingly.
- Alignment and attendance in Congress. Only open roll-call floor votes count; percentages for those who voted fewer than 5 times are not shown. In the Senate, the government's position is the government leader's vote; in the Chamber, the government leadership's recommendation. The Chamber does not report excused absences.
- Campaign money. Comes from the finance reports filed with the TSE and is updated once a day. Amounts may change until the final report is filed.
- Promise tracker. From the government plans filed with the TSE we selected only concrete commitments (with a number or deadline, or that create a law, program or body), with literal quotes and pages, checked automatically. Each promise's status changes from the inauguration on, always with a source and a date.
- Indicators by government. Each month is attributed to whoever was governing in that month. Amounts in reais are adjusted for inflation (IPCA) where indicated.
